The Genus Castianeira member, the Ant-Mimic Spider. This spider looks just like an ant - hence the name - and it lives where ants would live, giving it the perfect cover. Its abdomen is stretched, and since no predator truly likes the taste of ants, the spiders have perfect cover. In the picture, you can tell its a spider by the eight legs, and the six visible eyes. The ant mimic spider will attack without hesitation, and it shoots out formic acid to defend itself. When the spider is not hunting, rests inside sacs. The spider females are bigger than the males. They commonly eat smaller insects, and their eggs hatch in autumn with the spider lings overwintering until spring. (Overwintering is the process by which some organisms pass through or wait out the winter season.)
